Well I have no intention of buying this unless we the need arises for compatibility purposes.

Always happens just before a LAN :(

I cant even work out what it is./..

Is it another 20 quid addon? or the full set up to latest... including the PE2 addon?

if it's £20 , seems a bit pricey to be an addon.

guess I'm only buying it if it's an actual version upgrade.

oh you guyys..... ;)

it's the next expansion for Oleg to rip some money out of the punters.

Its what would have hapened if WW2 hadn't finished.

I don't think that's right Zak. That rather lacking review at Hexus appears to be for something called "Sturmoviks over Manchuria "and is completely different for one I've just read here relating to IL2 1946

http://www.rrgstudios.com/EN_02_07_1946.shtml

Quote:
Missions

* New static campaigns totaling 45+ misions:
o VVS Fighter;
o Luftwaffe Fighter;
o Luftwaffe Bomber.
* 5 single missions
* 5 co-op missions

Seventeen New Flyable Planes

* Bereznyak-Isaev BI-6
* Lavochkin LaGG-3R
* Lavochkin La-7R
* Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9 Prototype
* Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9FS
* Mikoyan-Gurevich I-250 (MiG-13)
* Yakovlev Yak-3 VK-107A
* Yakovlev Yak-3R
* Yakovlev Yak-15
* Arado Ar-234B Blitz
* Dornier Do-335V-13
* Heinkel He-L-IIIB-2 Lerche
* Heinkel He-162B
* Heinkel He-162C
* Messerschmitt Me-262HG-II
* Tank Ta-152C
* Tank Ta-183

New Map

* Kiev

Also

* X-4 air-to-air guided rockets;
* 84 new ground objects, including trenches;
* New bunkers, SPA and tanks;
* 200+ new paintschemes;
* 4 B&W intro tracks.

I think we could do with a complete and centralised page devoted to the add ons and upgrades that are available.

Only 2 things I need to know

1) Do I need it to play AW or the latest online campaign?

2) Are all you guys (or the regulars) getting it?

p.s. Hat - Page 2 of that Hexus "review" is about "46", but about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. (Sorry Nick ;))

Cheers Clingy... and apologies to anyone that wrote it.. didn't know it was by anyone I know!. After reading the first page.. I didn't bother to look for any links to other pages - Sorry! :D

Anyway. my view is that I'd like to have ALL the planes and maps that are available to fly within this game.. but I must be able to switch to a version that is currently being used by the majority for any online wars etc.

So.. if I can work out how to do that.. then that's my route :) I'll let you know!

If it is as simple as the 4.04/4.05 switch then great!

Do you reckon the new jet-propelled stuff will actually sound like a real jet engine rather than a low powered electric screwdriver?

It may mean having two seperate installs with two shortcuts on the desktop again.
Did that once before with one of the upgrades... Was it AEP?

With my new 160Gb SATA drive I've got the space to do it now, but would rather just have one version.
I want to collect the whole range of planes anfd missions etc, but don't really want to pay out for an all in one DVD, I did that last time.

to briefly defend Deckard there....he didn't review it...was a headline (ie a news flash, press release. Reason I whacked it in here was that I have already posted it here on MA forum)

Yeah.. I'm not particularly keen on 2 full installs either.. although, I suppose its possible.

Hopefully, they'll just be like the 404 to 405PE2 add on, where its just a case of hanging on to the different versions of the files.sfs (aprox 20 meg) for each version.

Wish they were in a local shop so I could just pick the box up off the counter and have a look.

So, it looks like Im missing Sturm over Manch and this 1946 thing... are there any more out there that we should know about?

Was there not a DVD out not that long ago?
Remember buying something, then can balls if they think I'm gonna buy another bloody disk, the whole idea of the DVD is to round it up and then to stick another DVD out just before xmas is a pretty crap thing to do IMHO...

I'm giving these a miss unless I can be persuaded otherwise - been fleeced by Oleg enough. My hope is that not everyone in the IL2 online community will take the two add-ons up, so that there will still be some online stuff to play :roll:

I'll save my money for Storm fo War: BoB and (ahem) MS Flight Sim X (I know, I Know).

Wasn't Storm of War: BoB due out this month? I'm guessing it won't be coming 'till Nov 2007 now.

I don't think I will bother. BoB will be the first episode in a whole new series from 1c. Apparantly the first add-on for BoB will be the north african theatre.

don't think so, The DVD just included all the patches up to (not including) the PE2 thing.
Nothing extra.

The main advantage was it didn't mean a half hour install, just 5 mins, then 1/2 hour trying to remeber all the config setup if you didn't save the originals.

I've installed.... its only a replacement of the files.sfs and 2 additional files... so if we need to go back to original, it's no prob

Mytz posted this over at netwings.

http://forums.netwings.org/forums/showthread.php?p=51156#post51156

good for switching between 4.05 & 4.07 versions.

not patched yet, not keen on beta patches, so will hold fire until I have to.
