Just spent a couple of hours agonising as to why my OS wouldn't install on this machine (4 attempts). Opened her up and realised that the HDD IDE cable had an enourmous tight kink in it, straightened it out and it's now flying hehe.

Cheers Trig :D

I spoke too soon, somthing is definately amiss - it's been over 2 and a half hours now and windows still hasn't installed. I've used various CD's and all have been immensly slow copying data to the hard disk. Somthing is faulty, i'll try to figure out what.

Reset the CMOS and replaced all the IDE cables, tested and everything's working, I reckon it was that cable. Now I really ought to go to bed, nn :)

Perhaps we ought to be more clear...

No good re-placing or fitting the old cable.

You're better off substituting the old ineffective item with a brand new, warrantied replacement.

If you order a NEW cable from Scan mate.. it'll be with you sometime in the next couple of months... but if not.. dont worry, 'cos they wont email you to tell you anyway... so noone will be anyone the wiser.

Maybe they'll text you saying they sent an e-mail to you to let you know that everything is not ok...... so when you dont receive the e-mail, you wont mind at all.

;)

Feeling confused and lied to? who moi?

nah... no trouble - Internal decisions have been made and I am at calm with the world :)

I'm just sitting at the window waiting for Postman Pat.

Zak's helped out tons.... doing all the customer service that they shouldn't need to have to do! And to be honest.. if I ever buy anything from Scan again... Zak should get all the commision and a medal.

Hope it arrives today.. getting fidgety!

http://www.nt4s.co.uk just opened up.

I'd suggest a new cable, but I'm not going to, because I can see from the lack of suggesting you get a new cable, that it is that obvious you should get a new cable.
