I'm getting in a helluva pickle with this version switching stuff. I can switch to 4.04 and 4.05 but haven't been able to switch back from 4.071 to 4.07. To be honest I'm on the verge of shelving IL2 until this mess settles down a tad.

AFter much downloading and comparing, it looks like I lost the files.SFS for 4.07. I have managed to download it now but 4.071 also has the following changed files.

fb_3do18.SFS
fb_3do18p.SFS

Now I cant find these anywhere for 4.07 and am wondering whether they exist in 4.07 and below.

Can someone on 4.07 please check to see whether they have these files in their main il2 directory please?

I don't have either of those files, my fb_3do SFS files only go up to #17

The patch only contains those two files you mentioned and a 4.071m version of files.SFS. (and a readme of course)

Sooooo. am I right in thinking all you should need to do is to replace the 4.07 files.SFS file and maybe delete or hide the two #18 files?

Hi.

I'm running 4071 full time now, really cba with version switching.. besides the flight models are different... so.. get used to the new versions now.. why wait?

(It's kind of funny seeing 109s flip out on stalls everywhere as they try their turn on a magic sixpence trickery)

407 to 4071 is a replacement files.sfs and 2 additional files (fb_3do18.SFS and fb_3do18p.SFS ) So to switch between 407 and 4071 is purely a case of swapping the files.sfs .. no need to remove / hide the others as they are doing no harm there if they are not being used,

I will now be either flying single player having a go at this IL10 campaign.. ( which is awesome by the way.,. minimap and speedbar only (at the most!) .. or on winds of war dogfight which is 4071

OK so using Mytzy's posted link, to convert between 4.05 (for AW) and 4.071, all you need to do is apply Mytzy's prog, which adds 3 folders for the separate files (4.04, 4.05, 4.07)into the 1946 directory. Then save the SFS file from the 4.07 folder somewhere safe.
Then apply the 4.071m patch.
Then copy the 4.071 SFS file, which has now been updated, to the 4.07 folder. The new #18 files can stay where they are, as Hat says.

Now when you apply the 4.07 bat file, you will actually be swapping to 4.071, while still being able to swap back to 4.05 for the older servers/games.

Sounds good to me, although I've had a few stella's tonight, so will have another look at it in the AM.

or hope they realease the proper 'alpha' 4.071 patch or whatever they're going to call it pretty smartish

I got it all working nicely, but I am doing the same as Hat.

I'm not used to these Single Player careers. I flew the same mission 3 times yesterday pounding the hell out of some artillery but it wont apply/save??? Is it because I am leaving before the "Mission Completed" message?

You've gotta get home alive and complete the primary objective ;)

Secondary and hidden objectives are just icing on the cake,

Assuming that you're playing it on minimap/speedbar only... (i.e have no instant success selecetd) then.. yeah.. I think you have to wait for the mission completed msg.

It would be fairly easy to convert that sturm over Manch campaing to a multiplayer set we could fly together if you're interested? It's mnot a dynamic one, so it would just mean a quick edit of the 20 or so missions that are in that folder,,, lemme know

Sounds good. I have worked out how to convert them.....

Remove "AI only" tickboxes where possible and also the "Player" tickbox.

Been a tough two weeks with the whole family ill, and now it's my turn so not sure when I'll have the energy for mortal combat. Hopefully sometime this week.
