Well had an absolutely tremendous day. Weather was great, flying was great and finale was somthing really special. Apologies to Clingy for completely missing him.

As a bit of a duxford virgin I was truly spoiled today. So from the top....

A dawdle around the hangers. American air museum was awesome, the SR-71 unsurprisingly being a real treat.

Image

Nice noseart on the F-111.

Image

Onto the flying - Weather is fine, Duxford's getting busy...

Image

After a few false starts shooting after leaving my camera set up for a wedding shoot I did on friday, I was off to flying start when Sally B came out:

Image

Image

Realised I was in a prime location for taxiing aircraft while she was airborne.

Image

Beautiful light on the old girl:

Image

Image

Next up great SAR demo. Again miraculously found myself in a wonderful position. As they say in the hood, much respec to these fellows.

Image

Now those who know me know I am actually a jet whore, as much as I love the old stuff, so apologies in advance to you guys for the following set.

Image

Sorry.

Image

1 more.

Image

Ok this one is the last promise.

Image

Love the rainbow colours in the vapour.

Image

Oh did I say the last one?

Image

Difficult light conditions at Duxford with sun seemingly perpetually in the 'wrong' location, as the day progresses see how things pan out. At least the sun is out however.

Image

Again I find myself welcoming the BoB memorial flight in a suspiciously nice place to snap these:

Image

Image

Beautiful flying as ever by these guys. Not as spirited as the private flyers but great nonetheless.

Image

Hurri and lanc. Beautiful partnership.

Image

Fantastic demo by the apache team. Who'd of thought upsidedown choppers could be considered a good thing.

Image

Now for zak's favourite. A minor scare before takeoff when one wouldn't start, but fortunately fixed up in time. I've had the pleasure of seeing these guys before, and they do not dissappoint.

Image

Image

Image

Image

And to round of the day the most throat-lumpingly fantastic spitfire formations and flypasts I could only manage a couple of shots before welling up so much I couldn't hold the camera steady. I'm I was shooting so I could appreciate the flying that much more. Absolutely beautiful.

Image

Image

Anyway that's it from me for now. Who's up for next year?

Was that the Flying Legends show? I will get down there one year for it I swear. Beautiful pictures Nuts - and don't ever apologise for the jets, they have their place as much as the vintage stuff (and they're usually louder too) :bob:

Cheers matey. It was just their standard show, I believe flying legends is August-time.

I think it was published as teh 75th Anniversary of the Spitfire Show.

Got a good position squeezed between a couple of hospitality areas in front of American Air museum. Highlight for me was the F15, the sky opened conveniently for him when he hit the ceiling...seen it before at Mildenhall, but still breathtaking....OMG that plane can turn. They flew the pilot over from the states and he "borrowed" an F15 from Lakenheath...lol.

Also the chat by the SR71 Blackbird pilot was superb. Bought one of his books and in the process of getting it signed I was chatting to him (holding up the queue  ). It transpired that his wife was born about 200 yards from where I was born. Well that's the closest I'll get to an aviation clain to fame :)

Went on the motobike this time so got some prime parking space....right near the breakfast hut :nana:

No photos from me, Nuts has more than made up for that :bob: .

Nice day wasn't it?! The F-15 was a real crowd pleaser. These are for you then clingy:

Couple more displays at old warden and one more at duxford this year. Would be great to meet up if anyone is interested. Don't think I'd be travelling much further afield than that.

Already got the 16th planned with a couple of buddies but would still like to catch up with anyone else going. Would definitely consider old warden this weekend though, weather's supposed to be great or so I've heard. Sunday right?
