Check this thread:

http://forums.netwings.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2262

got a couple of links to the Ubi-zoo.. essentially what people are saying is that it would be a good idea to release FB, AEP AND PF, plus all the add-ons (inc. Eastern Market only ones) on 1 DVD, up to 4.03 or something. 1 disc, one install.... loads more new a/c... I'd pay for that again tbh instead of having to feck around with 5 discs and who knows how many patches - not to mention getting them all in the right order.... :bang:

Whatcha think?

I'd love to have it all on one DVD.

Wonder how much they're charging for it though?

Blowed if I'm paying £40 for the convenience.

I could ram it all onto a DVD myself I suppose....

ubi/maddox seem determined to squeeze every available pound/dollar/euro/ruble/yen/whatever from every available pocket. I think they're deliberately holding stuff back (flyable Typhoon, PE-2, JU-88 etc) so that we'll reach in our pockets one more time before the whole IL2 project is made extinct by BoB.

must admit.. it does annoy me somewhat. It's getting pretty ridiculous. However, I suppose if it was too much, then we wouldnt buy it and they would have to rethink

don't the discs come free with newspapers these days?

I still don't have a player (beyond the ones in my PC - WinDVD software, not that great - and my laptop - a bit better).

boy this thread is off topic :)

Actually this is as I understand it totally incorrect. UBI had decided not to distribute the additional 3 addons as they considered it not financially viable. As they hold the worldwide distribution rights outside of Russia this effectively stoped the distribution outside of Russia of the 3 additional addons.

UBI have however got plans to make a Platinum product from FB/AEP/PF in the same way they did the gold eddition of FB/AEP. They had/have no plans initially to include the addons. The only hope of these addons reaching the world market is if they can be convinced to include them on the Platinum release.

So far from it being an attempt to screw additional money out of the punters its an attempt to give the punters the option to get addons that would not otherwise be available in the West.

S~!

By and large correct Wizard, however there are few hidden wrinkles there that may not be visible on first inspection. For instance it would have been Simulation suicide to split the community geographically and based on who has which addon. Ubi saw this from the beginning I believe and the story about them not wishing to distribute the addons alone may be true in the strictest sense. I don't believe for a second however that they ever had any intention fo NOT distributing the addons.

Personally I feel from the way it was brought up in ORR is most telling. Perhaps a little disinformation? Anyway, I am not too concerned about it. I like some of the other posters am not thrilled with the money grab but it beats not having anything new. Other aspects of the Platinum Edition are more troublesome to me than the price. Though $65 is nothing to sneeze at. And that is before vat for us here in Canada.

What's one of them? Does it protect yourself from National Broadcasting Corporation hyperbole?
