Hi guys,

SATA CD/DVD burners are very cheap now.

I recently got one for £20 from Scan, and have been using it AND the EIDE one I had before (why not? I thought)

Just unplugged the EIDE one, and XP boots 10 seconds faster.

If you need to buy a new drive, make it a SATA one.

Also if your using SATA and not IDE turn off the IDE controller as its generally not controlled by the southbridge anymore its an add-on which makes it suck even more than usual...

I wouldn't be so hasty anyone who has read this, all motherboards are different, some may spend additional time searching for IDE components thus making your system boot slower as the system holds till the timeout.

Dosn't always make a difference, as you said.
