I have to build a PC for a friend (Auran from Hexus...some of you met him at Duxford two years ago....built like a brick outhouse, always wears shades)

With help from Luke and thern from Lee at Scan, this is the end result, and it staggers me.

This is a COMPLETE system (self build obviously) and it's all legit, inc XP Pro.

Asus Nforce 4 SLI mobo SATA, Lan, 7.1 sound etc etc
Opteron 144 64bit cpu (default speed 1800)
Akasa Heatsink
Tagan 480W psu
Akasa Eclipse midi case (very very nice, not cheapo)
160gig Barracuda SATA hard drive
Geforce 6800 GS 256mb GDDR3
1 gig of Corsair Twin X PC3200 Cas2
Liteon CD/CDR/CDRW/ DVD reader
Sony floppy drive
19" TFT Hyundai
XP Pro oem
Saitek Evo
Key board, and optica mouse
2 extra 120mm case fans

ALL for £1022 inc vat delivered.

I tel you what....its unreal what a grand buys in 2006. :prop:

any piece of that could be considered overkill too. Opteron. Monster case. 160 gig hard drive. Geforce 6800 GS. XP Pro ;)

Could cut that riht down....AND its got a bleedin great 19" TFT !!

It's a merely above average system. You spend a grand, you get a system of "that" spec. Been that way for years.

On the grand scheme of things it is way, way above your average home pc, but the to the hardcore geek's scheme of things - it's far from the latest and greatest. :P

Yea, back in 97, you spent a grand, you got a Pentium II 400, not the fastest bit of kit at the time, but faster than your average bear. :)

nah....he's alright. He just likes taking me down a peg or two every time he gets a chance. It's fair enough. I did give his address to Luke to send him a mic ;)

I don't like doing it. It just inevitably happens :)

Nuts....I love you...you KNOW I love you. It's just you have a truly amazing way with diplomacy. I love the way you flush it down the toilet so fast ;)

got one...never use the thing...too complex! Nick lent it to me after he reived it. I hate it.

I've got an X45 and I dont use many of the functions from that, if I had the money to blow I'd get a 52 just so I can get the twist rudder back that I had on my Cyborg :(

Too complex? Makes it far easier :/

I can give you my profile if you like.. don't need to touch the keyboard for anything except in game chat, and bombsight stuff (he111, b25, etc. which I will eventually include into the current profile.. I don't fly bombers that often :P) everything is logically placed, the only bit's you need to do are to assign the axis for the twist controls.

Will do when I get home. Tis for 52, not 45 though.

Will try and get a diag done as well, if I can find the tool for it.

I've got (off top of head):

Mode 1:
Guns - first stage on trigger
Both - Second stage on trigger
Bombs - The big button that has a safety latch (lol)
Rockets - Left Thumb button on J/S
Airbrake - Top right thumb button on J/S
Rad - Bottom right thumb button on J/S
Comms - Top thumb button on Throt.
Centre view - Bottom thumb button on Throt (is the mouse click button)
Aileron trim - left/right on top hat on J/S
Zoom control - Bottom Hat on J/S
Supercharger controls - Hat switch on Throt (up/down)
Fuel - Top Hat on Throt (up/down)
Boost/WEP - wheel click
Droptanks - Big button on throt.
Map - Toggle 1
Nav Lights - Toggle 2
Landing lights - Toggle 3

Mode 2:
Wheel brakes - Trigger
Tab > 4 > Heading to Targ. - Bomb button
Tab > 4 > Heading to base - Rocket button
Ignition - Top right thumb button
Gear - Up on throt hat switch

Probably more stuff and if it's not different in mode 2, it's the same as mode1.

For the axis I use the obvious ones, plus Slider for flaps, horizontal wheel (big one on top) on throttle for rudder trim, small (lower) for elevator trim.

Still love mine. Use all three modes and pinkie to give me everything.

Mode one - landing takeoff
Mode Two - Bomber
Mode Three - Fighter

You can even change your profile on the fly which as good as gives you limitless keys.

Didn't think 45 and 52 profiles were interchangeable, but I may be wrong.

They are, kind of, you can load the profile and the commands/macro's will be there, they just won't be assigned to any keys. (This works atleast for taking a 45 to 52, unsure about 52 to 45)

Anywho..

http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~goldfish/il2/profiles/

Should only need the .DAT file, but I put the .pr0 file in, just in case.

Haven't found the PDF diag tool :/

Mode1 fighting, Mode2 nav. Mode3 unused as yet, but will maybe be for bomber one day (you can already 'bomb' with mode1, but can't adjust the bombsight.)

Will also need some key changes in game to make this profile match up.. so here is my key config from settings.ini:
