Twin Core CPU vs X1900 512ddr card

Post by MA_Zak33 »

Twin core owns it's sorry ass
Totally.

This game needs more cpu than you can shake a stick at!

OPteron at 2500 with X800 XT PE 35 fps in relevlent test
Opteron at 2500 with X1900 35 fps in same test.

No kidding. OK, I could crank up the AA and AF to the max and it STILL gives 35 fps, but the cpu is the bottle neck in IL-2. Period.

Put X800 back in, and X2 4800 + cpu (2x 2400 mghz)
45 fps.
X1900 and X2 4800 + cpu
46 fps

Guys, as stated 6 months ago when I built my machine: More cpu power, not graphics.

Dakky and Dangly...going from old cpu's no new A64 will make you all laugh uncontrollably. It is the way to go. More cpu. Much as you can get

that IS impressive. Even this twin core wont do it that fast.

It's a little bit variable, the test is not broad either, not accounting for SIMD extensions and the like.

2 sticks, although RAM would barely be a factor in this pifast test on newer systems.

two stick is greater than 4 for nforce 4 boards bandwidth

But none the less.....it is some uber score. I recently did a whip round on Hexus and people with 4600+ at 2.8 were coming in at 46.5 seconds

Core Duo at 2.9 was running 35.45 seconds

So you've done bloody well, congrats :)

here's a cool one for you though.

With IL-2 running looped tracks, and then Windows key out, and run Pifast on this twin core, I got 52.22 seconds.

Now THATS power :)
