Getting the Best from your ATI card

Post by MA_Zak33 »

Tumble....you have done some awesome shots!

Your 9800 Pro looks as good as mine used too...and I have upgraded to an X800 Pro that isn't as pretty :(

And I thought it was the latest patches for the game.

But nope!

Dangy gets his settings and drivers right and THIS happens!

changes to.....

So....the hunt for me is on.....gonna try going back to those Omega 4.12 drivers to start with and see if my X800 Pro likes them.

But mean time, Tumble....can you post your setting config please:)?

I rolled back to the 4.12 drivers.

Changed to atioglxxx.dll setting,

and am now using Tumble's "Render opengl" setting in my conf.ini.

Code: Select all

[Render_OpenGL]
TexQual=3
TexMipFilter=2
TexCompress=0
TexFlags.UseDither=0
TexFlags.UseAlpha=0
TexFlags.UseIndex=0
TexFlags.PolygonStipple=0
TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0
TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=1
TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=0
TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0
TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1
TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1
TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1
TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0
TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0
TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=0
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1

TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=0
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=0
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=0
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=0
TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=0

HardwareShaders=1

Shadows=2
Specular=2
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=3

Sky=2
Forest=0
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=2
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=17
Water=1
Effects=0
ForceShaders1x=0
PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15
PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0
The only change I've made is to set water = 2 recently for added water effects

mmm, prob not 3x's

should be on tomingt for a flyabout, not noticed it unplayable online on Warclouds recently, except when low over cities.

Tend to turn the ground detail down a bit for actual combat flying then.

atioglxx.dll (found in C:\Windows\System32\)

That's the file you want it to use.

I've been googling for other tweaks, and it really does appear that I am the first il2er to suggest anywhere that you should use the atioglxx.dll ... wow.

btw, I'm on latest ati drivers and using thumbles config, I get photo quality gfx.
