Anything to do with flight related hardware.

How do I get rid of this file?

I use O&O's defrag tools, runs rings around the crap one you get with Windows...
Am in the trial period.. its been defragging away for hours now. Sorting out stuff that windoze seemed incapable of doing (?)

Yet, it highlighted a possible problem that I was unaware of before... I got this huge file called.. *cough.. something.something.iso *cough (quiet submarines) that appears as fragmented in the recycler on my F: drive. - according to the o&o status report.... but/.....

I uninstalled/deleted this ages ago.. and when I try and find this file using windoze search etc.... I cant find it anywhere.. and on opening that recycle bin folder , there's nothing in there...

Yet it shows up as taking a load of blocks off my F drive

o&o is the only reference I have that the file is there somehwere.... how do I make sure it definitley isnt there anymore?

Am I making sense?

Any ideas?

sometimes when you delete mamoth files from Windoze, it just doest play the game :( and gets stuck in the registry.

I once left FRAPS running after I died in a game of Raven Shield, made a cuppa, watched the news and remembered it was running.

It would NOT go away.

Had to reinstall XP :(

Zak, you're problem is specifically to do with .avi files, there is a reg hack for it, simply deleting one key fixes it. Has been doc'd for quite a few years now :P

The *.iso I'm not sure about, don't think it will be the same problem, but it could be that winblows has "unregistered" (the data flags are set to 0) the file, but enough of the data is still on disk for the defrag to pick it up as a complete file. (Files are never actually deleted, they are just "unregistered" so the OS doesn't pick them up.)

Will have a butchers..

In the mean time, is this actually restricting the amount of space you have on that drive?

How much free space do you have on that drive? I might just not be moving it because it has no where to put it.

EDIT: I see O&O have a "SafeErase" program.. could this be a sales ploy? lol.

If there are multiple folders (recycle Bin's) within your Recycler folder, this is due to Windows creating a Recycle Bin for each User account .. don't know if you have mulitple accounts on that machine or not.

Could it be lurking in a recycle bin of an alternate user ?
Unfortuantely, the system labels each Recycler Bin with the Unique seccurity string for that user so it's hard to tell who's who.

Will inv. further...

yep.. it is possible in recycle bin of alternate user... I can see a number of bins theree.. kind of faded out.. but cant see anything in them..

I'll log into windoze as admin and try again. THought I had full rights with the account I use the most..., but will check..

Thanks for that.. sounds promising

If you wanna free space up I can recommend CleanUp! from a chap called steve gould.
Much better than the windows disk cleanup proggy.
